Intelligent Manufacturing
Intelligent Manufacturing
We are immersed in the fourth industrial revolution, also known as Industry 4.0, which represents both a challenge and a great opportunity for companies. Among other objectives, companies are meant to reach an advanced digitalization stage, which will allow horizontal and vertical integration of processes.
Every piece of information, in every stage, from the design to the use of products by the user, will be able. This information will be reachable not only at plant levels, but also vertically crossed by business management systems, making it accessible from everywhere. This paradigm shift will set aside isolated processes and will focus on a concept that makes possible the information availability in very stage. Additionally, it allows process automatization and decision making with artificial intelligence tools.
This global connection enables the development of flexible automatized production processes (multi-operational) for parts processing with multi-materials (multi-functionality), with embedded sensing, both for processes and products.
Hereby, this revolution includes the development of virtual and augmented reality systems which allow ‘Human-Machine’ interfaces. This also includes advanced collaborative environments between people and robots, for modelling, simulation and advanced programming of collaborative scenarios, and development of sensorial systems for granting operative security. Digitalization also allows the interconnection between physical and digital worlds and between systems and real products and its digital twins.
