The EVIVA-PEIVPRO European project, led by Etcharry Formation Développement in collaboration with partners from France, Italy, and Spain, introduces innovative immersive virtual reality experiences that will transform the training of social and healthcare professionals.

The initiative, in which ITCL Technological Centre (Burgos) actively participates, aims to facilitate the integration of students into the working world by experiencing professional situations similar to real ones. To achieve this, three Virtual Reality experiences using 360º video have been created, in which the user can choose different paths that will help them navigate various situations.

The success of a training project that integrates VR is, therefore, based on a close alliance between technological innovation and human support. In fact, much more than a simple technological tool, the integration of virtual reality into training: offers students an immersive and interactive experience; facilitates the acquisition of key knowledge and skills; stimulates engagement and reinforces learning, and promotes pedagogical innovation within teams.

This approach offers students the possibility of facing specific and realistic situations in a safe environment, directly inspired by their future professional setting. These experiences are based on two centres for the elderly and one supervised residential centre for people with disabilities: Villa Bon Air (France), Casa Don Antonio Bonoli (Italy), and Caser Residencial Betharram (Spain).

The Contribution of ITCL Technological Centre

ITCL Technological Centre (Spain) has played an essential role in the development of these immersive experiences, contributing its expertise in technological innovation applied to training. Its main contributions include:

  • Development of an interactive application with a decision-tree-based architecture, allowing users to choose different paths and outcomes within the simulations.

  • Implementation of subtitles and a multilingual system, facilitating accessibility and broadening the project’s scope.

  • Consultancy in script development and shooting plans, ensuring coherence in the shots and supporting partners in audiovisual production with technical and equipment recommendations.

  • Optimization through artificial intelligence, improving video quality and reducing their size for more efficient use.

  • Multiplatform preparation, allowing the experiences to be enjoyed on both virtual reality devices and web environments.

A European Cooperation Project

EVIVA-PEIVPRO brings together four partners from three countries: Etcharry Formation Développement (France), Nazaret (Spain), CEFAL Emilia Romagna (Italy), and ITCL Technological Centre (Spain). The project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme (AC2, cooperation in vocational education and training), has lasted for two years. With this initiative, the partners demonstrate how the alliance between technological innovation and human support can transform learning processes, bringing students closer to their future professional work with a unique and realistic experience.”
