PRISMA: Automation of Quality Control and Food Safety in the Meat Industry with Hyperspectral Technology

Project Description:

PRISMA will enable the experimental evaluation and validation of the application of hyperspectral technology in quality control and food safety processes, laying the foundations for its integration into industrial environments and facilitating its adoption in the meat sector of Castilla y León.

Main Objective:

The PRISMA project aims to investigate the use of hyperspectral imaging (HSI) technology to improve quality control and food safety in the meat industry. Innovative methodologies will be explored to foster its integration into industrial systems, with the goal of applying this technology to the agri-food sector in the future.

Specific Project Objectives:

  • SO1: Identify opportunities for the use of HSI technology to improve quality control and food safety.
  • SO2: Analyze the current state of the sector regarding inspection and quality control.
  • SO3: Increase knowledge of the benefits, limitations, and barriers of HSI in industrial environments.
  • SO4: Design laboratory experiments to assess its effectiveness in meat products.
  • SO5: Determine key factors for its technological and operational integration.

Expected Results:

PRISMA will contribute to the modernization and digitalization of the meat sector by advancing knowledge of hyperspectral technology, generating solutions that will not only benefit the participating companies but also serve as a reference for the meat sector as a whole and the food industry in general.
