SOFIA – Enhancing Productivity in the Software Development Industry through the Use of Reliable AI

Project Description:

The SOFIA project (Research in an ecosystem of applications to enhance productivity in the SOFtware development industry through intensive use of reliable AI throughout its lifecycle) promotes cooperation around the use of AI in software development and its safe application in industrial environments.

General objectives of the project:

  • OG1: To advance scientific and technological knowledge, including legal and ethical aspects, for the use of Reliable Artificial Intelligence throughout the software development lifecycle; aiming to achieve unprecedented improvements in productive efficiency and cybersecurity.
  • OG2: To conduct Proofs of Concept (PoC) to validate the investigated technologies (TRL4) that provide methodologies and lessons learned for future developments and industrialization.
  • OG3: To share best practices between knowledge centers and companies, in different technological and business areas, enabling effective collaboration to prepare for the subsequent industrialization and commercialization of the results, as there is no conflict of interest.
  • OG4: To analyze and investigate the reliable, efficient, and safe applicability of the researched technologies to different software development lifecycle scenarios such as Software Factories, Naval Systems (industrial), Robotic Process Automation (RPAs) Optimization (high level), IoT (low level), and Visualization Systems (human-machine interface).
  • OG5: To strengthen and position the Consortium and its partners as leaders in their fields, enabling their participation in international initiatives such as Horizon Europe, Key Digital Technologies Joint Undertaking (KDT JU), Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI), and international research networks.

ITCL works for Segula and Cotesa in research activities of the IoT digitalization system assisted by artificial intelligence, the advanced visualization system assisted by artificial intelligence, AI research in cybersecurity management, and the design and development of software for the automatic resolution of complex Data Science problems using LLM.
